TELL US HOW TO IMPROVE WALKING IN MINNESOTA
-
DEMONSTRATION PROJECTSDemonstration projects are short term, low cost, temporary roadway projects to
promote and advance walking. Many projects can be demonstration projects, such
as crosswalk markings, curb extensions, and median safety islands. Long term
changes use more durable materials, such as new concrete curb. In the short
term, demonstration projects use low cost and easily available materials to quickly
enhance a street and/or intersection. -
MINNESOTA WALKS!MnDOT is in the process of creating a Statewide Pedestrian System Plan
for Minnesota. Walking is a key element in the state’s transportation system,
and it’s essential to provide safe and connected walking spaces for Minnesota’s
residents and visitors. The Statewide Pedestrian System Plan will help MnDOT
understand the walking communities that its trunk highway system serves and
help prioritize future investment and policy to create a fully walkable system.
